Switchgear Upgrades/Modernization (Arlington, VA)
BDE collaborated with key partners-Intrepid Systems Testing, RSL
Electric, and Ares Energy-to deliver a custom modernization solution for a federal government facility in Arlington, Virginia. The team collectively designed, supplied, and managed the retrofit installation of a low voltage generator paralleling system at the Air National Guard (ANG) facility. This design-build project involved reconditioning UL1066 circuit breakers, removing the outdated control system, installing a new paralleling control system, modifying switchgear doors to include a Human Machine Interface (HMI) for system notifications, and coordinating the testing of the system to ensure compatibility with the existing ATS and generators.
BDE and its partners worked together to upgrade the electrical system at a federal facility. They replaced old equipment, added a new control system to make everything work together better, and ensured the entire setup communicated smoothly through a new interface. The team also made sure power would not be interrupted during the upgrade and ran thorough tests to confirm the system would work perfectly with the existing backup generators.
Despite challenges like supply chain delays and tight schedules, the collaboration between BDE, Intrepid Systems Testing, RSL Electric, and Ares Energy delivered the new system on time. This partnership resulted in a modern, efficient solution that improved the reliability and functionality of the ANC’s equipment.
