Blackstar Diversified Enterprises Community Mural Unveiling

Blackstar Diversified Enterprises (BDE) along with members of the New Orleans community recently celebrated the unveiling of a mural in New Orleans East. The unveiling ceremony emphasized the power of art to heal, connect, and uplift communities.

The artist behind the mural, Morrah Burton-Edwards, from BMike’s Eternal Seeds organization, is a New Orleans native studying Fine Arts. Her work focuses on black culture and personal experiences. She has a background in mural art and has been recognized for her contributions to art projects and counseling younger artists.

City officials praised the artist for her commitment and contribution to the New Orleans East community. The ceremony included a proclamation from the City of New Orleans recognizing the artist’s work. The event also highlighted the collaboration and dedication of the youth involved in creating the mural.

Edwards expressed gratitude for the opportunity to work on the project and thanked those who supported and collaborated on the mural.

The mural adorning the BDE headquarters, represents the diversity and spirit of New Orleans East, incorporating elements of the community like Lake Forest Charter School and Joe Brown Park. The artwork symbolizes unity between African-Americans and Vietnamese residents, reflecting themes of reconstruction and rebirth for the community’s future.
