Montebello Filtration Plant 1 Improvements (Baltimore, MD)

Blackstar Diversified Enterprises partnered with Whiting-Turner Construction, Curtis Power Solutions, and SAI Advanced Power Solutions to deliver a customized generator and utility power paralleling system for the Montebello Filtration Plant 1 Improvements project in Baltimore, Maryland.

The project required the design, supply, and management of a medium voltage generator paralleling system to support one of Baltimore City's primary water treatment facilities. BDE provided a custom 15kV metal-clad switchgear lineup, integrated transformers, and engineered control systems to ensure seamless power transition and uninterrupted facility operations.

The system was engineered to manage:

  • (2) 2000A BGE utility feeders
  • 1.5MW Low Voltage Generator
  • 1.5MW Load Bank

The custom control system was specifically designed to prevent backfeeding of the sensitive BGE incoming power while maintaining uninterrupted power transfer in the event of voltage drop or utility fluctuations.
